Our History
ABOUT TRANBY

More than a place of learning,
Tranby is a movement.

COMMUNITY & CULTURE

A safe place to gather, yarn and act.

Tranby has always been more than just classrooms. Our story is tied to grassroots activism and community-led change. From historic campaigns for Land Rights and Black deaths in custody, to today’s national conversations, Tranby continues to be a culturally safe meeting place for our people to pursue learning on their own terms.

Community
Our Difference

Strengthening identity, amplifying voices, creating change.

The thousands of people who have walked through Tranby have become more connected with culture, confident in their identity and ready to make a difference. Their impact spreads like ripples in water, throughout families and communities nationally.

Campus & Heritage

A meeting place on Gadigal Country

Tranby is a meeting place – a safe, common ground where people can come together to share ideas and learn. Since 1957, our heritage-listed Glebe campus has been a hub for Aboriginal education, culture and activism. Our unique spaces are available for venue hire, offering a culturally significant setting for gatherings and conversations that matter.

It is more important than ever that we develop the skills necessary for building, or rather, re-building, a self-determined First Nations economy. This work cannot happen without truth-telling, without listening to the stories that have shaped and continue to shape our communities.
