ADVOCACY IN ACTION
The Alliance of First Nations Education Providers (AFNIETP)
The Alliance of First Nation’s Independent Education and Training Providers is a national peak body. The purpose of the Alliance is to advance the cultural, education, artistic and career pathways for Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders in Australia, while maintaining and growing Indigenous knowledge and value for the whole community.
AFNIETP was designed as a community-led action in response to the Australian Government’s consistent de-funding of the Aboriginal-controlled adult education sector. Working together, several organisations which include Tranby (the lead community partner, RTO Code 90492), Tauondi Aboriginal College in Tandanya (Adelaide, RTO Code 2370), Institute of Aboriginal Development (IAD) in Mparntwe (Alice Springs, RTO Code 0167) and NAISDA Dance College on Darkinjung land on Sydney’s Central Coast (RTO Code 5639), are advocating for sustainable investment in Indigenous controlled adult education.
