Mick Gooda

Mick Gooda is a descendant of the Ghungalu Yiman people and is a distinguished Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leader, advocate, and expert in social justice. He was appointed Co-Chair of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ Social Justice Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission in 2005 and later served as the Australian Government’s Social Justice Commissioner from 2012 to 2018. Mick has also served as a Director of the Indigenous Governance and Leadership Foundation. Throughout his career, Mick has been a powerful advocate for Indigenous rights, cultural governance, and systemic change to advance equity for First Nations Australians.
