
Katriina Heikkanen is a proud Worimi woman from Forster on the mid-north coast of NSW, with Finnish heritage on her father’s side, and grew up on Darug land in Sydney. She has more than 20 years’ experience working across Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs, policy, and community development. Katriina is the Indigenous Business Development Manager at GHD and a member of the Strategic Advisory Committee providing support and guidance to the AFL. She was previously the Indigenous and Social Policy Manager at the AFL, and prior to that was a Senior Manager in the Commonwealth Government overseeing Indigenous Employment and Economic Development. Katriina also co-chairs the Community Resource Board, which runs social enterprises that deliver community services. Her leadership reflects a strong commitment to Indigenous empowerment, and governance, and cultural integrity.
